ICHABOD AND ABBIE TRY TO GET A “HEAD” OF THE COMPETITION ON AN ALL-NEW “SLEEPY HOLLOW” MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, ON FOX
Ichabod Crane and Lt. Abbie Mills concoct a daring plan to try to rescue Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, from the Headless Horseman by resurrecting a Frankenstein-like monster created by Benjamin Franklin. Meanwhile, Frank Irving faces new trouble after revealing the true details of his encounter with a demon, and Jenny Mills finds herself at odds with the new sheriff in town in the all-new “The Kindred” episode of SLEEPY HOLLOW airing Monday, Sept. 29 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
The extended press release for the upcoming season 2 premiere of Sleepy Hollow, next week, is posted below.
Episode 2.01 – This Is War (22-Sep-2014)
In Sleepy Hollow, it would seem as though the status quo has been restored, but things in the formerly quaint town are never truly as they appear. Even now, how Crane managed to escape being betrayed and buried alive by his son, Jeremy (aka Henry Parish, aka the newly minted Horseman of War), or how Abbie freed herself from Purgatory, remains a mystery… even to them. What appears certain however is that while both Katrina and Jenny have apparently been lost, the Two Witnesses have not abandoned their quest to fight tirelessly against Moloch and his minions. Meanwhile, Moloch’s malevolent forces use all the powers at their disposal in an attempt to locate a key – once belonging to Founding Father Benjamin Franklin – which is capable of unlocking the gates of Purgatory. After using his unique skills on an unanticipated prisoner, Sin-Eater Henry Parish discovers a clue which points him in the direction of the valuable artifact, but Crane is intent on finding it first. While in Purgatory, Moloch works to raise a demonic army in preparation for his invasion, but those who would prevent the hoard’s advent get help from an unexpected source. Meanwhile, we learn that Jenny and Katrina are both still alive, though each is being held prisoner for vastly different reasons, and Crane takes the inadvisable action of re-entering Purgatory in order to fulfill a promise.

The season finale of Sleepy Hollow aired last week on Fox, and I met Nicole Beharie just before so everything was still a spoiler. She wouldn’t give away anything, so it’s actually safe to read this interview even if you haven’t caught up on Sleepy Hollow. In fact, add it to your Fan TV WatchList now so you can catch up on the first season.
Beharie plays Abbie Mills, a police lieutenant partnered up with Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), who has been transported to modern day Sleepy Hollow. Her captain Frank Irving (Orlando Jones) assigns her to stay with Crane and deal with all the supernatural occurrences he brought back with him, from the Headless Horseman to spirits of possession. Sleepy Hollow will be back for a second season, so get to know Nicole Beharie in our exclusive Fan Voice interview.
Fan Voice: How relieved were you when you got the second season for Sleepy Hollow?
Nicole Beharie: I was surprised. It’s an amazing gift to know that A, you’re going to be working, and that we get to keep developing these characters on this journey, so for me I wouldn’t say relief because I wasn’t thinking about it. I was just trying to do the work, but I was just surprised, really surprised and grateful. The studio seems to really be supporting us and I think between that and the audience, that’s the way that we’re staying above water.
Fan Voice: You already go back to work in March. Will you do a movie in the hiatus?
Nicole Beharie: I might. I have some things lined up. I’m not sure what’s the right thing to do at the moment because of the time. It’s either we go back in March or May.
Fan Voice: Oh, that’s a big difference.
Nicole Beharie: It is a big difference so scheduling is tricky.
Fan Voice: Are you getting offered lead roles now?
Nicole Beharie: Here and there, bits and pieces, but definitely more interesting stuff.
Fan Voice: What have you enjoyed about playing Abbie this year on Sleepy Hollow?
Nicole Beharie: I love how she’s been able to change. I’ve been able to play with a lot of different colors. I thought Abbie could be very one note. It could be a very one note character but she just continues blossoming. There are moments where I find humor and there are moments where I have profound vulnerability and anger in places that maybe they shouldn’t be or you wouldn’t see it on the page and it’s happening. And then the intimacy that she has with Crane has been huge. I think people have even picked up on that online.
Fan Voice: I called it first. I thought they would have a romance eventually.
Nicole Beharie: I don’t know if they’re going to have a romance but there’s an intimacy there. There’s definitely a partnership.
